This research has been published in the medical journal British Journal of Sports Medicine. Its researchers say that sitting at one place for a long time increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart diseases and chronic diseases.

Research was done on how many people?

Researchers from America’s Columbia University Medical Center were involved in this research. More than 19300 adults were included in these. All of them participated in National Public Radio’s Invent Body Electric Challenge. The participants were advised to take a 5-minute walking break every 30, 60 and 120 minutes. Before this he had followed his normal routine for 7 days.

What came out in the research?

The participants followed this routine for 21 days and symptoms of less fatigue and better mood were observed. Research says that 5 minute walking breaks taken at an interval of 60 minutes proved to be more effective. According to the researcher, taking a break of 30 minutes improved both mood and energy, but it was difficult to adopt it regularly.

Whereas a break of 120 minutes showed slightly less effect on the body. If seen, the effect of 5 minutes walk in 60 minutes is positive and it is also better from practicality point of view. The most important thing is to follow this routine regularly.
