Refuting ‘fake news’ on India-US trade deal, Ambassador said – everything is on track. Us Ambassador Dismisses Fake News On India Us Trade Deal Rejection

US Ambassador Sergio Gore termed the news of India rejecting the trade deal as ‘fake news’. He and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed that both countries are fully committed to finalizing the agreement and negotiations are on track.

New Delhi [भारत]July 14 (ANI): US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore on Monday rejected media reports claiming that New Delhi has turned down a quick trade deal with Washington. He termed these reports as “fake news” and confirmed that the two countries were moving towards a final agreement.

Taking to social media to directly refute a media report, Ambassador Gore emphasized the extremely collaborative nature of the ongoing bilateral discussions. “Fake news alert! No one has ruled anything out. The meetings on both sides were very constructive and they reiterated their commitment to finalizing a trade deal. We are actively engaged,” Gore said.

American ambassador denied the report

The US diplomat’s strong reaction came in response to an agency report, which cited unnamed officials and analysts. The report claimed that India had rejected a quick trade deal during recent high-level talks. According to the agency, New Delhi was waiting for better terms, reportedly due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s increased confidence from “new trading partners, reduced economic risks and political gains at home”.

However, Gore’s denial underscores the mutual determination between Washington and New Delhi to move beyond media speculation and reach a comprehensive trade deal. Officials from both sides have recently indicated that the deal is in its final stages.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also denied

Earlier in the day, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also rejected reports of impasse in India-US trade talks, calling them completely false, baseless and misleading. In a post on social media platform Goyal said, “This news is completely false, baseless and misleading.”

The Commerce Minister said they had “great meetings” during the visit of US Trade Representative (USTR) Jameson Greer to New Delhi in June. He reiterated that both countries are committed to concluding a balanced and mutually beneficial trade agreement.

Goyal said, “I had excellent meetings with USTR Jameson Greer when he visited Delhi in June. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to an agreement that is balanced, commercially meaningful and delivers tangible benefits for businesses, farmers, workers and consumers in both countries.” He further added, “Our teams are fully engaged in achieving this objective.”

His statement came after Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal said there were no obstacles to completing the deal. Briefing media persons on trade data for June 2026, Agarwal said, “We do not see any challenge in the negotiation of an India-US trade deal.” (ANI)
