Why is Sun God worshiped on Sunday?
According to scholars there are 24 hours in a day. These are called Hora in astrology. Each hora is associated with a particular planet. The day is named after the planet which is the lord of the first hour of the day (at the time of sunrise) and it is worshiped especially on that day. After Saturday, the 25th hour of the next day (sunrise) falls in the Hora of Suryadev. Sun also has a name Ravi, hence Suryadev is especially worshiped on Sunday.

Importance of Surya Puja on Sunday
The lord of Sunday is Suryadev, hence the rules for his special worship on this day have been mentioned. According to astrologers, by the grace of Sun God, a person gets self-confidence, leadership ability, respect and success. People whose Sun is weak in their horoscope are advised to perform Surya Puja on Sunday.
How to worship Sun God on Sunday?
– Wake up before sunrise on Sunday morning and take bath. Worship Sun God by wearing clean clothes.
– Mix water, red flowers, rice and a little Roli in a copper pot and offer it to the Sun God with devotion.
– While offering Arghya, keep your face towards the rays of the sun. After this offer red flowers, jaggery and wheat.
– Light a ghee lamp and perform aarti of Sun God. At the end of the puja, chant Surya Mantra 11 times.
