The legal battle between Ravi Mohan and his wife Aarti Ravi has taken another turn after Aarti’s mother, producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, addressed reports surrounding the interim maintenance order issued by the Chennai Family Welfare Court.

Talking to the media, she rejected claims that her daughter Aarti had demanded Rs 40 lakh in monthly maintenance, Sujatha Vijayakumar said the amount was linked to financial problems caused by the actor. Her comments come days after the court granted Ravi Mohan unrestricted visitation rights with his sons while asking him to pay monthly maintenance and cover expenses related to the children’s upbringing and education.

Producer Sujatha Vijayakumar addressed the media on to clarify reports surrounding the interim maintenance order in the ongoing divorce proceedings between Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi. She dismissed claims that her daughter had sought Rs 40 lakh per month as personal maintenance. Sujatha, Vijayakumar said the amount was due to debts allegedly incurred during Ravi Mohan’s time with the family. “Aarti didn’t ask for the Rs 40 lakh as monthly maintenance for herself. We have a lot of debt that was caused by him (Ravi Mohan), because of which the bank even issued a notice. The children now don’t have money for school fees, food, or tuition,” she claimed.

Sujatha Vijayakumar also stated that the couple’s children attend an American school where the annual fee is around Rs 86 lakh. She said the court has directed Ravi Mohan to pay the school fees, provide Rs 3 lakh per month to Aarti and Rs 1 lakh each for both children, besides covering their extracurricular expenses. She also rejected reports that Aarti was preventing Ravi Mohan from meeting the children. “She never said that he shouldn’t meet the children. In fact, she herself approached the court for him to see the kids,” Sujatha added.

Just hours after Sujatha’s press interaction, Ravi Mohan appeared to respond through a cryptic Instagram Story posted on Sunday.

“Happy Friendship Day, my dearest people. Thank you for standing by me like true friends. It is unfortunate that some people continue to act in ways that amount to contempt of court. As for me, I want to make one thing clear: the 4 of us will not ever be in the same room together as long as I am alive.” he wrote. The actor did not mention Sujatha or Aarti in the post.
