The Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by Ravi Mohan seeking an extension of the deadline given to the Family Welfare Court to dispose of proceedings related to an interim maintenance plea filed by his estranged wife, . The dispute forms part of the ongoing divorce proceedings between the couple. Earlier, the High Court had directed the Family Welfare Court in Chennai to hear and decide the interim maintenance petition within a fixed timeframe.

The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed by actor Ravi Mohan seeking an extension of the time granted to the Family Welfare Court in Chennai. The conflict includes an interim maintenance plea filed by Aarti, in which she alleged that Ravi Mohan had failed to provide maintenance from April 2025 onwards, including expenses related to their children’s school fees.

Acting on her request, the Madras High Court had previously directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the interim maintenance application and pass appropriate orders within two weeks. Following this order, Ravi Mohan filed a fresh petition before the High Court seeking an extension of the deadline, arguing that the Family Welfare Court required more time to complete the proceedings. However, senior advocate J. Ravindran, appearing for Aarti Ravi, opposed the plea and argued against granting any extension.

After hearing submissions from both sides, Justice Abdul Quddhose dismissed Ravi Mohan’s petition and upheld the earlier direction issued by the High Court. The court also advised the actor to approach the Family Welfare Court for any further relief related to the pending proceedings.
