CHENNAI: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly preparing for major changes ahead of the 2027 IPL season following their disappointing performance in the 2026 campaign.
The five-time champions are expected to overhaul the team, with changes likely in the coaching staff and leadership. CSK, who last won the IPL title in 2023, struggled to make an impact in the last season, prompting the management to consider significant changes.
As part of the reported restructuring, Stephen Fleming has been removed from the head coach role, with the management planning to appoint Michael Hussey as his replacement. Reports also suggest that Malayali star Sanju Samson could take over as CSK captain, while current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad could be replaced.
Meanwhile, speculation continues over whether MS Dhoni will feature as a player for CSK next season. Reports suggest that the former India captain could take up a mentor’s role with the franchise. There are also rumours that CSK could make a move for all-rounder Hardik Pandya as part of its plans for the upcoming season.
