Actress Raveena Tandon has recalled how an unexpected cancellation of her planned Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with daughter Rasha Tandon strengthened her belief in divine timing.
Speaking during the semi-finale episode of India’s Best Dancer Season 5, Raveena shared the personal experience while reflecting on her faith in Mahadev and her belief that setbacks can sometimes offer protection.
Raveena said that following the death of her father in 2022, she undertook a pilgrimage covering all 12 Jyotirlingas. She later planned to travel to Kailash Mansarovar with Rasha, but their visas were cancelled shortly before the scheduled journey, forcing them to abandon the trip.
Although the cancellation initially left both mother and daughter disappointed, Raveena said she chose to accept it as something that may have happened for a reason.
Recalling her reaction, she said, “Maine itna bola Mahadev ka kuch toh kaaran hoga, there has to be a reason that we are not going. Jab woh bulayenge tab apne aap hum chale jayenge.”
She said the significance of the cancellation became clearer to them when they subsequently learnt about the devastating disaster in the Himalayan region.
“We were so disappointed that it got cancelled, and two days later we came to know that the glacier collapsed. It was a man-made disaster,” she recalled.
Raveena said the experience reinforced her belief that an unexpected disappointment can sometimes prevent a person from being caught in a dangerous situation.
“It is God’s way to save you from every situation,” she said.
The episode comes against the backdrop of the major disaster reported in Nepal’s Langtang region on August 26, when a rock-and-ice collapse triggered severe flooding and debris flows. The destruction also affected areas along the Nepal-Tibet border and disrupted routes associated with the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage.
Gyirong Port, an important gateway for Indian pilgrims travelling towards Kailash Mansarovar, was among the areas affected by the flooding.
