Actress Raveena Tandon celebrated National Handloom Day by extending her support to India’s weavers and artisans, highlighting their role in preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The ‘Mohra’ actress took to social media to share a heartfelt message appreciating master weavers who continue to keep traditional crafts and handloom traditions alive. She also urged people to support local products and embrace India’s indigenous textile legacy.
Sharing pictures of herself wearing sarees created by local artisans, Raveena wrote, “Swadeshi was built on the idea of standing by our own people, and that starts with our master weavers. Wearing local today with gratitude for the hands that keep our culture alive. #NationalHandloomDay.”
Through her post, the actress celebrated the craftsmanship behind Indian handlooms and highlighted the dedication of artisans whose work reflects the country’s diverse textile traditions.
Several other actors also extended their support to India’s weaving community on National Handloom Day.
Actress Shriya Saran shared a message recognising the efforts of weavers, saying, “Behind every thread is a family, a tradition, and days of hard work. Our weavers keep our history alive in the most beautiful way. Celebrating them with #NationalHandloomDay.”
Television actress Apara Mehta also paid tribute to weavers and artisans, recalling her personal connection with Indian handlooms. She said India has a rich textile heritage and thanked her mother for introducing her to traditional handwoven fabrics from an early age.
She encouraged people to support Indian handlooms and local textiles, urging everyone to continue carrying forward the country’s centuries-old weaving traditions.
India observed the 12th National Handloom Day on August 7, 2026, to honour the nation’s traditional weaving heritage and recognise the contribution of artisans. The occasion also marks the anniversary of the Swadeshi Movement, launched on August 7, 1905, which encouraged the use of Indian-made products.
