The District Court of Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu has given a historic verdict in the rape-murder case. In just 75 days of hearing, the accused was sentenced to death. While giving the verdict, the court considered forensic report, DNA test and CCTV footage as important evidence.
After raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl, the accused then murdered her.
CCTV cameras revealed secrets Let us tell you that the incident took place in a remote village, where the minor girl had come out of the house to defecate. It is alleged that the accused stopped her on the way and first raped her and then murdered her. After the incident, panic spread in the area. In the initial investigation, the police were not able to find any concrete clues. After this, the investigation team scanned about 1000 hours of footage of CCTV cameras installed between the village and the city. Meanwhile, suspicious activities of the accused were recorded in a camera installed in a windmill complex. The footage showed him entering the village a few hours before the incident and coming out the next morning.

During investigation, the blood samples found on the shirt of the accused matched that of the victim, while DNA testing also found strong evidence against the accused. Taking swift action, the police filed the charge sheet in just 21 days. The court gave the verdict within 75 days of completion of the hearing and sentenced the accused to double death. Investigation also revealed that the accused was already doing recce of the area and had come planning the incident.
