The new Tata Safari will be launched soon, which will be built on Sierra’s ARGOS platform. It will be more comfortable than before and it may get AWD system and better suspension for the first time. Launch is expected by 2027.
TaTa Motors is about to launch the next-generation model of its popular seven-seater SUV, Tata Safari. Many great features and big changes will be seen in the new Safari. The biggest change in this will be the platform of the vehicle. It is being told that the new Safari will be based on Sierra’s ARGOS platform. Let us know what special thing the company is going to offer in the new Safari.
More comfortable family SUV than ever before
The new Safari will no longer be built on the Range Rover-inspired OMEGARC platform. According to reports, it will be based on the new ARGOS platform developed for the recently launched Sierra. Tata Motors has invested heavily in creating the ARGOS platform, so in future many new models of the company may be based on this architecture. Currently, this platform supports 4.3 meter to 4.6 meter long vehicles, but some technical changes are expected to be made in it for a larger SUV like Safari. Tata will focus on making the Safari not just a feature-loaded SUV, but a more comfortable family SUV.
new suspension technology
Another great technology of Sierra can be seen in the new Safari. Reports suggest that the company can use Frequency Dependent Dampers (FDD) suspension system in it. This technology helps in adjusting the suspension according to the road conditions, which greatly improves the ride quality. Mahindra is currently offering FDD technology in its XUV700.
Less hope for major changes in features
Tata Motors recently included many new features in Safari. Therefore, not much major changes are expected in the feature list of the next-generation model. However, with an improved platform, upgraded suspension and a more attractive cabin design, passengers are expected to get a more premium experience than before.
AWD system can be available for the first time
The biggest drawback of the existing OMEGARC platform was that it was not compatible with all-wheel drive (AWD) systems. For this reason, SUVs like Safari and Harrier never had the option of 4×4 or AWD. This situation may change with the new ARGOS platform. According to reports, AWD system can be given in the new generation Safari. If this happens, the Safari will get true off-road capability for the first time.
Diesel and turbo-petrol engines will continue
It is expected that the existing 2.0-litre diesel engine and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will continue in the new Safari. Another special feature of the new Safari is the possibility of a hybrid version. The ARGOS platform can support hybrid powertrains. Tata Motors has also recently developed a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine based on Atkinson cycle technology. This type of engine is usually used in strong hybrid vehicles. However, the company has currently refused to work on hybrid technology.
There may be an increase in price
Currently, the on-road price of Tata Safari in Mumbai ranges from around Rs 15.79 lakh to Rs 32.16 lakh. If reports are to be believed, the price of front-wheel drive (FWD) variants of the new Safari may increase by around Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000. At the same time, the price of possible AWD variants could be up to Rs 1 lakh more than similar FWD models. Reports suggest that the new Safari may be launched by the end of 2027.
