Ramayana: Yash Explains Why He Does NOT Share Screen With Ranbir Kapoor In Part One

Yash became a national sensation with the pan-India success of the KGF franchise. Putting an end to speculations, he confirmed his Bollywood debut as Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s . The shoot for the first part of the mythological epic has wrapped, and the actors are returning to set for its second instalment.

Amid the ongoing shoot of Ramayana: Part Two, Yash and Namit Malhotra represented the film on CinemaCon 2026’s global stage. During an interaction with international media, Yash spoke about working with Ranbir Kapoor in the magnum opus.

Yash reveals he and Ranbir Kapoor do not have scenes together in Ramayana: Part 1

told Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak that he is not sharing the screen with Ranbir in Ramayana: Part 1, which releases on Diwali this year. The actor further said that, since it is a two-part film, Rama will have his own kingdom, and so will Ravana, before their epic conflict sets the stage for the second part.

In the interview, Yash said that even though he and  never appear together on screen, they have met each other personally. “He’s such a fabulous actor and it’s mutual respect which has played out,” he said, before adding that their chemistry seemed natural because the ambition to make Ramayana a phenomenal experience is mutual. Yash concluded by saying, “Our visions are aligned and so chemistry is not even an issue. We’re enjoying.”

Namit Malhotra on Ramayana

Namit explained the purpose behind taking Ramayana to the world. During the interview, he said, “To the world, I think this is very very relevant with all the other epics that you just mentioned. The audiences in cinema want to see something that is new and different and the mindset is a lot more open to consume different kind of stories. I think we’ve all seen enough of the same fare, but now it’s about what new can be bring?”

Besides Ranbir and Yash,   features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Arun Govil as Dashrath. Kajal Aggarwal will portray Mandodari, while Rakul Preet Singh takes on the role of Shurpanakha. The cast further includes Amitabh Bachchan as Jatayu and narrator of the film, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyut Jihva, Suhail Nayyar as Sugriva and Kunal Kapoor as Indra.
