Yes, the name of this company is ‘Larsen & Toubro’ (L&T). This company has many achievements in its name, but at present the construction of ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple’ has become its biggest identity. L&T has prepared this temple in such a way that not a single hair of this temple will be damaged for the next 1,000 years. Larsen & Toubro has designed many other big monuments of the country.
This is how the country got honored again and again
Before ‘Ram Mandir’, L&T had shown its capability by building the world’s tallest statue i.e. ‘Statue of Unity’. This statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel serves as an inspiration for many monuments in the world. Also, making it was a confluence of many challenges, which L&T handled well. Many years before the ‘Statue of Unity’, L&T had given another unique building to this country.
Built ‘Taj Mahal of Delhi’
L&T is the company that has built ‘Lotus Temple’, the place of worship of Bahai religion in the country’s capital Delhi. This building, completed in 1986, is of ‘white colour’, due to which it has got the title of ‘Taj Mahal of Delhi’. Its design is inspired by Sydney’s Opera House, which actually looks like a ‘lotus flower’. The credit for building this unique building lies with L&T only.
2 engineers from Denmark created L&T
L&T, despite the name being foreign, is a completely indigenous company. It was started by two engineers who came to India from Denmark. It has been working in India for almost 80 years. Its business is spread in more than 30 countries of the world. Apart from engineering and construction, the company works in sectors like technology, financial services and information technology.
The founders of L&T were Henning Holok Larsen and Soren Christian Toubro of Denmark. Before World War-2, both of Copenhagen’s F. l. Was an employee of Smith & Company. Larsen came to India around 1937 to work on a project for his company, where he met his old friend Toubro, who had been in India since 1934. It was 1938, the background of World War-2 had started to form. Most Europeans were returning to their countries, but Larsen and Toubro did not go back to Denmark. He accepted to stay in Mumbai and started a company in partnership. This company is today known as Larsen & Toubro.
