A dispute over agricultural land turned into a bloody conflict in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan on Sunday evening. Here a 26 year old boy murdered his elder sister by cutting her with an axe. The police have arrested the accused and also recovered the ax used in the murder.

Sister said such a thing that she came running

This incident took place in village 8 Dol of Rawla police station area at around 7 pm. Accused Surendra had called his sister Manju home asking her to take her share of wheat from the ancestral land. Manju, who was in a live-in relationship for the last two years, had come home with her partner. Her partner had left her at home.

Police said that his mother had gone to a wedding in Kaluwala village at the time of the incident. At home, when Manju asked for her share in the land, there was an argument between the two brothers and sisters. In anger, Surendra picked up an ax kept in the house and attacked Manju on the head.

Deadly dispute over land

  • The attack of the ax was so fatal that Manju fell there. Hearing her scream, her partner came running inside and found her soaked in blood, while Surendra was standing nearby with a weapon in his hand. He immediately informed Rawala police, who reached the spot and started investigation.
  • Deputy Superintendent of Police Prashant Kaushik said that the reason for the murder seems to be an old land dispute. Manju was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
  • Surendra, who is the youngest of five siblings and a BSTC student, was arrested after questioning. Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the full details of the dispute and the circumstances leading to the murder.
