Rajasthan & Japan to collaborate on gems, jewellery; CM eyes growth

Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma met a Japanese delegation to boost industrial growth and investment. He urged collaboration in the gem and jewellery trade and noted Japanese firms have seen 3-4x higher returns on investments in the state.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma met with the Japanese delegation on Sunday to discuss industrial growth and investment. The Chief Minister stated that Rajasthan and Japan share a long-standing relationship. In line with this, the state government is preparing a detailed roadmap for the growth of gems, jewellery, and other industries. Special facilities have been developed within the designated Japanese Zone, ensuring smooth and favourable infrastructure for Japanese companies, said a release.

CM Urges Collaboration, Highlights High Returns

During the meeting, he urged the Jaipur Jewellery Association and the Yamanashi Jewellery Association to collaborate through technology and investment to advance the gem and jewellery trade, thereby expanding business and generating maximum employment opportunities. Recalling his visit to Japan in 2024, he mentioned that Japanese companies expressed gratitude after realizing three to four times higher returns on their investments in Rajasthan. He added that the state government warmly invites Japanese investors to establish industries in Rajasthan.

Strong Japan-Rajasthan Business Ties

During the meeting, Yuichi Higuchi, Mayor of Kofu City, Japan, praised the Rajasthan government’s investor-friendly policies and available opportunities, noting that 180 Japanese companies are currently operating in Rajasthan. He highlighted that jewellers from Jaipur and Kofu City are jointly carrying out jewellery business globally, with nearly 60 Jaipur-based companies operating in Kofu City.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister and the Japanese delegation greeted each other with the phrase “Radhe-Radhe.”

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Koshin Company Limited President Kazuo Matsumoto, Create Takano Company Limited President Chikara Yanagimoto, The Yamanashi Chuo Bank Limited Senior Advisor Nakaba Shindo, Eigado Company Limited Vice President Tadao Shimura and Kofu City International Relations Division Mayor Office Manager Shunichi Hagihara.
