Railways tighten rules
Following the implementation of the Central Government‘s Public Trust Act 2026, several provisions related to railways have been amended. Passengers found using drugs, engaging in obscene acts, or littering on railway premises or trains will face action and a fine of 1,000 rupees.
What will happen if the fine is not paid?
If a passenger repeatedly violates the rules or refuses to pay the fine, they can be fined up to 5,000 rupees. Additionally, the passenger can be removed from the train mid-way to avoid inconvenience to other passengers. Furthermore, if the fine is not paid, the passenger can be sent to the Railway Magistrate Court.
