A serious case has come to light in KGMU, the largest medical college of the state, located in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The matter is related to ragging, in which junior doctors fearfully complained about it to the Anti Ragging Cell. In the complaint, junior batch students had complained of ragging by accusing senior doctors of mental torture in December last year. In the complaint, the students had also accused the seniors of making them do continuous duty.
The hospital administration started an investigation after allegations of mental harassment by junior doctors and constant imposition of duty on senior doctors. During investigation, the allegations of junior residents were found to be true. After this, the KGMU administration suspended one senior resident for three months and three senior residents for one month each. This action has created a stir in KGMU.
Complaint in KGMU’s anti ragging cell
In the anti-ragging cell of KGMU, students of 2022-23 batch had alleged that they were being mentally harassed. By continuously putting on duty at night, he is being made to do more work than usual, due to which he is neither able to focus nor concentrate on his studies, for which Vice Chancellor Professor Sonia Nityanand had formed an inquiry committee.
