Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will create history by completing his 5-year tenure on July 4. He will be the first BJP CM of the state to do so. Dhami also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth ₹123.79 crore in Champawat.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is going to create history on 4th July. He will become the first Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to complete a consecutive five-year term in the state.
Before him, senior Congress leader late Narayan Dutt Tiwari was the only chief minister in the state’s history to complete his full five-year term.
Dhami took charge as the Chief Minister for the first time on July 4, 2021. Following the BJP’s victory in the 2022 assembly elections, the party leadership once again handed him the reins of the state, making him the only Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to win a second consecutive term.
Uttarakhand has a history of political instability. Since the formation of the state in 2000, there have been 10 Chief Ministers. Narayan Dutt Tiwari served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from March 2, 2002 to March 7, 2007.
During Dhami’s tenure, the state government has kept its focus on governance and development.
Champawat got a gift worth crores
On Monday, Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 17 development projects worth a total of ₹123.79 crore during a grand event in Champawat. Of these, eight completed projects worth ₹27.79 crore were inaugurated, while the foundation stone of nine new projects worth ₹96 crore was laid.
Jim Corbett Trail inaugurated
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Jim Corbett Trail developed at a cost of ₹3.49 crore. The project involves various construction and renovation works at several locations across the district associated with Jim Corbett. He also participated in the bhoomi pujan ceremony of the City Center being developed in the Champawat Bus Station Roadways area.
Health services strengthened
He also attended a public event in Champawat, where he announced a significant boost to the state’s health infrastructure. The Chief Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art MRI machine installed at a cost of about Rs 6 crore under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in collaboration with ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth.
Work on the mantra of ‘development as well as heritage’
The government’s four-year anniversary was celebrated in March this year with large public events, including an event titled “People’s Government – Four years of excellence, Uttarakhand marching on the path of sustained progress” held at the Parade Ground in Dehradun. Addressing the gathering, Dhami said the double engine government is working towards building a “strong, prosperous and self-reliant Uttarakhand” inspired by the mantra of “development also, heritage also”.
