Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and Congress MLA Pratap Singh Bajwa remains in the headlines these days. In Punjab, he is in trouble due to the statement of 50 bombs in the state. After which an FIR has been registered against him. On Tuesday (April 15), Bajwa was questioned at the cyber police station in Mohali. After this he came out, Bajwa has not been arrested.
At the same time, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wading and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa met Bajwa at the police station. After coming out, he accused the Punjab Police of misbehaving with Bajwa. The leaders said that as the Leader of Opposition, Pratap Singh Bajwa is being treated very wrong by the Punjab Police. Along with this, the leaders targeted the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state and accused it of misusing the state police to target the opposition leaders.
Congress leaders raised slogans against AAP government
The Congress’s Punjab unit chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wading and Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and other party leaders reached Mohali Cyber Crime Police Station along with Bajwa. Only Bajwa and his lawyer were allowed to go to the police station, while the leaders staged a sit -in outside the police station and shouted slogans against the state government. The Congress condemned the FIR filed against Bajwa.
All leaders gathered at Congress headquarters
Senior leaders including MPs, MLAs, former MLAs and party workers gathered at the Punjab Congress headquarters here to show solidarity towards Bajwa. These leaders included former Punjab Chief Minister and current Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
‘Punjab Police is acting like a puppet’
During this, while talking to reporters, the head of the Punjab unit of the Congress, Wading, while talking to the journalists, targeted the state’s government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and alleged that there is a forest-raj in Punjab. He claimed that the Punjab Police is acting like a puppet and misusing the powers. Wading said that incidents of daily robbery and murder are happening in the state. Grenades are being thrown. He said that instead of improving law and order in Punjab, action is being taken against the leaders of the opposition party who expressed concern over the current situation.
‘Bajwa is not afraid…’
He said that the senior Congress leader had expressed concern over the law and order situation. He said that Bajwa had received information about the bomb in the state through the news of a newspaper. Wading said that Bajwa is not afraid. At the same time, he said that the Congress leader’s father was killed in a bomb attack.
Before leaving for Mohali, Bajwa had told reporters that the issue he has raised, he worries everyone. He said, today every Punjabi is upset, there are explosions. Calls are coming for ransom. Taking a dig at the state government, he said that he will get a copy of the FIR only after going to the court.
Case filed against Bajwa
The case against Bajwa has been registered at the cyber crime police station in Mohali. He claimed in an interview with a private TV channel, ‘I have come to know that 50 bombs have reached Punjab. Out of these 18 have been exploded and 32 are still yet to burst’. After which a team of Punjab Police reached Bajwa’s residence on Sunday and questioned him regarding this matter. A case has been registered against Bajwa under Section 197 (1) (D) (incorrect and misleading information that is endangered by the country’s sovereignty and unity) and 353 (2) (wrong statement with the intention of creating enmity and hatred or maliciousness) against Bajwa.
