Pune (Maharashtra) [भारत]July 13 (ANI): Three women pilgrims from Ashadh Wari were killed and four others injured when a truck carrying pilgrims (called Varkari) hit a group of devotees on Saswad-Jejuri Road in Pune district on Monday, police officials said.

3 women warriors died, 4 injured in the accident

According to Pune Rural Police, the accident occurred near Hotel Shipdeep Lodging, about 500 meters from Belsar Toll Naka towards Jejuri. Police said that the truck belonged to ‘Dindi’ of Nanded district and it met with the accident along with seven women Varkaris of ‘Dindi’ of Sangli district. Three women died in the accident, while four others were injured.

The injured have been admitted to an ICU hospital in Jejuri for treatment. Police said that the truck was being driven by a 70-year-old man, who has been taken into custody. Policemen are present at the spot and legal proceedings are underway. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Pune Police (Rural) said, “A truck belonging to Dindi of Ranganath Maharaj Pokharbisikar from Loha in Nanded district met with an accident involving seven women Warkaris of Dindi from Kasbedigraj in Sangli district.” Further details are awaited.
