Steroid eye drops threat of glaucoma: Using a prolonged steroid eye drops without consulting a doctor can cause glucoma. Currently, more than 1.19 crore people across the country suffer from glaucoma problem and even more worrying is that more than 10 percent of people are suffering from vision loss due to glaucoma. Since ‘World Glucoma Week’ is being celebrated till March 15, rising cases of glaucoma are becoming a matter of concern.

Dazzling after cataract and refractive error is the third major cause of vision loss in India. Timely diagnosis and proper treatment can prevent blindness from cataract. According to doctors, in the early stages of gum disease, the patient does not experience any kind of discomfort or symptom, which is why many people do not consider its treatment.

But once the vision is damaged due to cataract, it cannot be rectified. Glaucoma can be in young children as well as in older, and is known as congenital glaucoma.

According to doctors, people who have diabetes are more likely to get this disease. This disease is also genetic, that is, children whose parents have this disease, have eight times more likely to develop this disease than normal children. Whenever a person is diagnosed with measles, they are first suggested to get all the members of their family checked for the measles.

Since it is a genetic disease, it is possible that it walks in the family and no one is aware of it. Dr. Ashish Bhojak, Vice President of All Gujarat Opthalmological Society, said that along with genetic causes such as hereditary diabetes-rhetoric, any type of eye injury and excessive use of steroid drops are also causing glaucoma.

There are no symptoms of glaucoma, but in some patients, symptoms of glaucoma appear, such as redness, eyesight, eye pain, headache, frequent changes in glasses number, and halo around the light.

Main reason

Someone in the family has to have diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid, minus or plus excessive number, old age, diabetes, no injury to the eye or surgery, more than 45 years of age, the use of steroids.

 

symptoms

Most cases of thrush have no symptoms. In some patients, symptoms such as red eyes, water coming, eye pain, headache, frequent changes of glasses, formation around light and blindness are seen in the final stage.

Treatment

There are 3 types of treatment: medical, laser, and surgery. Surgery is recommended when both medical and laser treatment fails. If cataract is not treated, then a person can be blind in 7-8 years or 10-12 years.
