Bhopal/Sheopur. The President of the country, Mrs. Draupadi Murmu reached Kuno National Park in Sheopur district on Saturday evening. Here he inspected the Cheetah Command and Control Center and got detailed information about the monitoring and tracking system of cheetahs. The officials told him how the movements of the leopards are being continuously monitored with the help of modern technology.
President Smt. Murmu will stay for the night in Kuno National Park. During this time, she will also have a detailed discussion with the Forest Department officials on this important project related to the restoration of cheetahs in India.
Information received about the progress and conservation arrangements of the Cheetah Project
During the inspection, the President visited the exhibition set up in the Cheetah Command and Control Center premises, in which the achievements and progress of the Cheetah Project so far were displayed. The officials told him that currently there are a total of 52 leopards in the country. Of these, 49 leopards are present in Kuno National Park, while three leopards have been sent to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary in Mandsaur.
The President also inquired about the facilities developed for the conservation and care of leopards. She was told that water pits have been made at a distance of about every two kilometers in the forest, in which water is provided as per requirement so that the wildlife does not face any kind of problem.
The activities of the cheetahs brought from Botswana were also discussed.
President Smt. Murmu was also informed about the activities of the cheetahs brought from Botswana to India and their current status. Officials said the eight leopards that were accepted for India during the President’s visit to Botswana were later brought to Kuno National Park. During this, the President obtained information about various aspects related to the safety, health and adaptation of leopards in their natural environment.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav paid courtesy call in Jabalpur
Before reaching Sheopur, President Draupadi Murmu also had a program in Jabalpur. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav paid a courtesy call on the President at the Circuit House here. On this occasion, there was a cordial conversation between the two and souvenirs were exchanged. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav welcomed the President on his arrival in Madhya Pradesh and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people of the state.

During this dignified meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav presented an attractive statue of Mother Narmada, considered the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh, to President Smt. Draupadi Murmu. Whereas President Smt. Murmu presented a beautiful picture of Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra related to the cultural and religious heritage of Odisha to the Chief Minister. Along with this, he also gifted a grand replica of the wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple.
Cheetah restoration project in India gets new impetus
This visit of the President is considered important for the ongoing cheetah restoration project in India. After observing the arrangements developed for conservation, monitoring and management of cheetahs in Kuno National Park, he took stock of the progress of the project and discussed various aspects with the concerned officials.
