New Delhi [भारत]July 28 (ANI): India’s regional rural banks (RRBs) have reported the highest-ever net profit of Rs 10,177 crore in FY26, according to a Finance Ministry statement. According to the release, RRBs have shown consistent improvement in key financial indicators including CRAR, deposits, NPAs and credit-deposit (CD) ratios.

Improvement in financial health of RRB

“The financial health of RRBs has improved in recent years. RRBs have recorded the highest-ever consolidated net profit of Rs 10,177 crore during FY 2025-26,” the release said.

Increase in deposits and loans

Total deposits increased from Rs 6,59,815 crore in FY24 to Rs 7,68,621 crore in FY26, while outstanding loans increased from Rs 4,71,384 crore to Rs 5,78,349 crore during the same period.

The credit-deposit ratio also improved from 71.4 percent in FY24 to 75.2 percent in FY26. The credit-deposit ratio improved from 71.4 per cent in FY24 to 73.4 per cent in FY25 and 75.2 per cent in FY26.

Asset quality also improved

Asset quality also showed improvement, with gross NPAs declining from 6.1 per cent in FY24 to 5.4 per cent in FY25 and 5.3 per cent in FY26. Net NPA stood at 2.4 percent in FY24, 2.0 percent in FY25 and 2.1 percent in FY26.

RRBs have also strengthened their financial position, with net worth increasing from Rs 56,780 crore in FY24 to Rs 63,927 crore in FY25 and Rs 74,086 crore in FY26. The Capital to Risk Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) improved from 14.2 per cent to 14.4 per cent and 15.0 per cent during the same period.

Government’s eye on financial inclusion

The Government monitors the progress of RRBs in expanding financial inclusion in rural and remote areas. “The targets of various financial inclusion schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) are set by DFS and monitored from time to time,” the release said.
