Preparations for Delhi Assembly elections in full swing, AAP may release first list today

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified preparations for Delhi Assembly elections. There is a PAC meeting of AAP today. The strategy for assembly elections will be discussed in this meeting. Along with this, the first list of candidates can also be released. The dates for Delhi Assembly elections have not been announced yet, but before this, party change of leaders has started in Delhi.

Recently, former Aam Aadmi Party leader and Transport Minister in Delhi government Kailash Gehlot joined BJP, while former BJP leader and two-time MLA Anit Jha joined Aam Aadmi Party. Earlier, former BJP MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar had also joined AAP. He has also been MLA thrice and councilor thrice.

Assembly elections may be held in February

Elections can be held on all 70 assembly seats of Delhi in February. The tenure of the current assembly will end on 23 February 2025. However, elections can be held any time before this. At present there is Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi.

Recently Arvind Kejriwal had resigned from the post of CM of Delhi. After his resignation, Atishi became the CM of Delhi. She has become the third woman CM of Delhi. Before this, Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit were the CMs of Delhi.

BJP also started preparing for elections

BJP has also intensified preparations for the assembly elections in Delhi. From the last week, BJP will speed up its campaign work in Delhi. For this, BJP has prepared a special plan. BJP is preparing to field about 10 councilors and alderman councilors in the upcoming assembly elections. BJP will field councilors with strong hold and good image in this election.

AAP registered a landslide victory in 2020

The number of assembly seats in Delhi is 70. The majority figure is 36. In the 2020 assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal had won 62 seats and formed the government with absolute majority. At the same time, BJP had to be satisfied with only eight seats. Aam Aadmi Party had secured 53.57 percent votes while BJP had secured 38.51 percent votes. Congress got 4.26 percent votes.
