Commonwealth Games Day will be celebrated on a large scale across the country on 24 May 2026. On this occasion, under the Fit India Sunday on Cycle campaign, cycling and fitness programs will be organized at more than 8 thousand places in the country. The aim of this campaign is to make people aware about fitness, sports and healthy lifestyle. This will be the 75th edition of Fit India Sunday on Cycle, which will be organized in Ahmedabad especially with the theme of Commonwealth Games.
The theme of the program has been kept as A New Icon for a Fitter India pedaling to 2030. Its objective is to prepare India for the 2030 Commonwealth Games through fitness, unity and sportsmanship. This program will be led by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Labor and Employment. Harsh Sanghvi will also be present with him.
Fitness programs at more than 8000 places
Apart from Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, many Commonwealth and Olympic medal winning players will also participate in the program. These include hockey players Rajni Etimarpu, Gurjit Kaur, Sonika Tandi, shooting players Ankur Mittal, Anjum Moudgil and badminton player Trupti Murgunde. A special exhibition will also be organized during the program, which will showcase India’s sporting achievements in the last 12 years. Besides, government schemes related to Khelo India Mission and sports goods manufacturing will also be displayed.
Before the Commonwealth Games Day, quiz competitions, reel making and torch design competitions were also organized across the country on My Bharat platform. More than 1 lakh youth participated in these. The government says that adopting fitness and increasing sports culture is now becoming a mass movement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also given the message of fitness dose, half an hour daily in his Mann Ki Baat program. The Fit India Sunday on Cycle campaign has now become one of the largest community fitness campaigns in the country.
More than 3 lakh places have been reached through its 74 editions. So far, more than 50 lakh cyclists and more than 7 crore people have joined this campaign. Yoga, Zumba, cycling, quiz and other fitness activities will also be organized in the program, so that more and more people can connect with sports and fitness.
