Prabhas fails to beat Mahesh Babu & Pawan Kalyan as his 3 latest re-releases flop at BO

Telugu superstar recently turned 45 on October 23 and on the occasion of his birthday, three of his previous films Eeswar (2002), Mr. Perfect (2011) and (2023) re-released in theatres.

A number of re-releases in recent times have been record-breakers and it was expected that these three Prabhas starrers will follow suit but all of them turned out to be box office flops, according to Track Tollywood.

Earlier this year, Mahesh Babu’s Murari did record business on re-release. Later, Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh created opening day records for re-releases. In fact, Chiranjeevi’s Indra too performed well in re-release but none of three Prabhas starrer managed to attract the audiences to theatres.

Reportedly, the theatres screening these older films only saw some of Prabhas’ hardcore fans in attendance, the general audience seemed disinterested.

Barring a few iconic screens that witnessed housefull shows, most of the screenings of these re-releases saw average response and the overall biz of Eeswar, Mr Perfect and Salaar is underwhelming to say the least.

Back in 2022, Prabhas’ Varsham (2004)had re-released in theatres to celebrate his 20th year anniversary in films but that too had flopped, according to Gulte.

It is the season of re-releases as recent months saw several older hits and flops making it back to the theatres and finding audiences.

Recently, Sohum Shah starrer Tumbbad became the biggest re-release grosser since the 2000s beating Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli.

The other successful re-releases include Laila Majnu, Rockstar, Sholay 3D, Mughal-E-Azam, Titanic and Avatar among others.
