Popular Maruti SUV Gets Mercedes-Like Features

You usually associate Maruti with fuel efficiency and its after-sales network, but have you ever imagined it in the same sentence as a Maybach? One Maruti owner decided that he was bored with the regular models and spiced things up.

Modified Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (the predecessor to the Brezza) was a no-nonsense compact SUV. It had the necessary features, a fuel-efficient engine and a practical interior. But one Vitara Brezza owner felt that the Brezza lacked some pizzazz. To change it, he has extensively modified his car.

All it would take is one glance to realise that it has been modified. The low-profile tyres, giant rear diffuser, aftermarket headlights and taillights, sportier front bumper, twin exhausts, and decals are among the aesthetic tweaks to the exterior. However, the exterior is just the tip of the iceberg. The biggest change isn’t visible to the naked eye.

Air Suspension on an Rs 8 Lakh Car!

The owner has installed air suspension on the Brezza. To put it into perspective on why this feature is such a big deal, only high-end luxury cars like Maybach, Rolls-Royce, etc. Even popular luxury sedans like the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-series miss out on air suspension. But what’s so special about it?

With air suspension, not only is the ride much smoother, but you get the luxury of adjusting the ride height. This Vitara Brezza can be lowered for improved looks and performance (we will get into that later) and raised on rough patches or steep speed humps with the touch of a button near the gear shifter. All in all, it is the perfect solution for Indian roads.

Modified Maruti Vitara Brezza – What Else?

The compressor and air tank for the air suspension are placed inside the boot. And along with the massive speaker setup, it leaves minimal space inside the boot. As for the cabin, it gets aftermarket leather seats, a larger infotainment system, 3 dials on the A-pillar (like the ones seen in Fast & Furious), front and rear dash cams, a digital IRVM, and a couple of toys on the dashboard.

Expectedly, changes have also been made to the 1.3-litre diesel engine. It gets a Stage 2+ Wolf Performance engine tune, a BMC air filter, a full exhaust system, and a custom downpipe. The aftermath of these modifications is improved performance and an exhaust note that could wake up neighbouring cities.

All these modifications come at a huge cost, as the owner has spent more than Rs 9 lakh on the mods alone. That means that he has spent upwards of Rs 20 lakh on the car. If the decision were up to you, would you buy this Vitara Brezza instead of a new Hyundai Venue?
