Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned PM Modi’s silence on the alleged theft of donations in Ayodhya Ram temple. He said that why is the PM, who claims ‘zero tolerance’ on corruption, silent on this serious issue for a month? The country is demanding answers.

New Delhi [भारत]July 14 (ANI): Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh on Monday intensified the party’s attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his silence on the alleged irregularities related to Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya. In a post on X, Ramesh claimed that Congress leaders have held 50 press conferences across the country in the last four days, while the Prime Minister is silent on the issue.

Ramesh said, “Donation theft, betrayal of faith. What does Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mysterious silence on the systematic donation theft by BJP-RSS at Lord Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya and betrayal of public trust show? Why is he so eager to help donation thieves?”

The Congress leader also hit out at the Prime Minister’s ‘zero tolerance’ stance on corruption and said the issue has remained unresolved for the last one month. He said, “The country is asking why the Prime Minister, who claims to have ‘zero tolerance’ towards corruption, is silent on this serious issue for the last one month? The public is demanding answers from him on this betrayal. Dear Prime Minister, break your silence, answer.”

Ramesh said, “In the last four days, Congress leaders have held 50 press conferences in different cities of the country on this important issue of faith of the citizens of the country, demanding answers from the Prime Minister and demanding that the real culprits be put behind the bars.”

Judicial custody of accused extended by 14 days

Meanwhile, an Ayodhya court on Monday extended the judicial custody of all eight accused in the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case by 14 days. The accused appeared in the court through video conferencing. Now he has to appear again on July 27.

According to sources, earlier investigating officer Ashutosh Tiwari had submitted the evidence and documents collected during the remand period of the three accused in connection with the case in the anti-corruption court of Ayodhya.

Supreme Court issued notice to Central and UP government

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Centre, Uttar Pradesh government and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust seeking their response on petitions seeking an independent, court-monitored probe into the alleged misuse of donations at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya. (ANI)
