Claims to have captured the headquarters, calls itself the real TMC

Rebel group leader Ritabrata Banerjee reached the party headquarters with supporters and leaders and held a meeting, calling himself the “real Trinamool Congress”. He said that now the organizational work of the party will be conducted from this office.

A day before this, the rebel group had presented its claim on the party’s name, election symbol and organization to the Election Commission. He says that organizational changes in the party have been made under the democratic process and a new national executive has also been formed.

Mamata supporter group made serious allegations

When senior Mamata Banerjee supporting leader Kunal Ghosh reached the headquarters, he could not enter inside because the gate was locked. He alleged that the headquarters was captured with the consent of the state administration and police.

Kunal Ghosh also said that the leaders of the rebel group were not elected as independent candidates, hence they cannot call themselves the real TMC. At present, the political and legal conflict between the two groups seems to be intensifying.

Claim in Election Commission, what will happen next?

After the defeat in the Bengal Assembly elections, there was a large-scale rebellion in TMC. The rebel group claims that most of the party MLAs and many MPs are with them. The delegation met Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demanded recognition of the new national executive and declaring itself the real Trinamool Congress.

Now the final decision on this entire dispute will be taken by the Election Commission and the constitutional process. The Commission will have to decide which faction has a legitimate claim on the name, election symbol and organization of the party. Till then this political struggle within TMC is likely to continue.
