Rahul Gandhi Detained: During the Congress protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence on the issue of paper leak and students, the police detained many leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and removed them by bus.
The political atmosphere in Delhi became very heated on Tuesday regarding paper leak and issues related to students. The protest by Congress leaders continued till late evening after they took out a march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. However, the police took action and detained many leaders and workers including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and removed them from there by bus. This development has intensified the political debate in Parliament as well as on the streets.
March to PM residence, Rahul Gandhi sits on strike
Under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress leaders took out a march from Rajaji Marg to the Prime Minister’s residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. During the protest, Rahul Gandhi sat on a dharna on the road and appealed to his supporters to join the protest. Rahul Gandhi said that the government should answer on the alleged brutality done to the students. He alleged that the central government is avoiding discussion on this issue in Parliament. Congress demands that the alleged paper leak issue be discussed in Parliament and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign.

Police detained Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi
After around 6:40 pm, the police started evacuating the protest site. During this time, Rahul Gandhi stood firm on the dharna, after which the policemen picked him up and took him away from there. Later, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and many other Congress leaders were detained and removed from the protest site in a police bus. After the police action, Rahul Gandhi said that the voice of the opposition cannot be suppressed in a democracy. Meanwhile, Congress leaders alleged that their peaceful protest was ended by force.
There was no consensus between the government and Congress
During the demonstration, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh reached the spot and talked to Rahul Gandhi. However, no agreement could be reached between the two parties. Congress MP Syed Nasir Hussain said that the party will continue its protest until the demand for resignation of the Education Minister and discussion in Parliament on the paper leak is not met.
Dr. Jitendra Singh claimed that the government was ready to discuss the issue in Parliament, but Congress later added the resignation of the Education Minister to its demands. In such a situation, the talks remained inconclusive and after some time the police ended the protest. Now after this whole incident, the issue of paper leak has come to the center of the country’s politics.
