Bilaspur district has achieved a big achievement by providing permanent houses to more than 50 thousand families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Transparent payment through DBT and participation of women have made this scheme successful.
Raipur. Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh has achieved a major achievement through effective implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). More than 50 thousand rural families have been provided permanent houses in the district. This success is the result of coordinated efforts of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), PM Jan Man Yojana and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. Through these schemes, thousands of needy families have got the opportunity to live a safe and respectable life.
Historic achievement recorded on National Panchayati Raj Day
On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, Bilaspur district created a new record in the field of rural development. A total of 50,044 families were given permanent houses in the district. The administration gave priority to transparency and timeliness in the implementation of schemes. A total amount of Rs 781.13 crore was sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), thereby eliminating the role of middlemen and speeding up the construction work.
Block wise performance: Masturi is at the forefront
If we talk about the figures at the development block level, Masturi block was at the forefront, where 14,973 houses were built. After this, construction of 13,762 houses in Bilha, 11,205 in Kota and 10,104 houses in Takhatpur was completed. These figures not only show the efficiency of the administration but also prove the successful implementation of the schemes at the ground level.
Big contribution of women power: From Queen Mistry to Dealer Didi
Women played an important role in this success. 113 women in the district were trained as ‘Rani Mistry’, due to which they became actively involved in construction work and became self-reliant. Apart from this, 331 women were made ‘Dealer Didi’ and given the responsibility of construction material. At the same time, 2,231 women were encouraged to provide shuttering material on rent, which increased their income and accelerated the construction work.
Second place in the state by building more than one lakh houses
Bilaspur district has completed a total of 1,03,873 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) between 2016-17 to 2025-26. With this achievement the district has secured second position in Chhattisgarh. This success is the result of strong planning, continuous monitoring and public participation.
Human aspect: journey from kutcha to pucca house
The most important aspect of this scheme is its humanitarian impact. Many women like Jhangli Baiga of village Darsagar and Kailasha Bai of village Nevasa, who earlier used to live in difficult conditions in kutcha houses, are now living a safe and dignified life in pucca houses. For them, this house is not just a structure, but security, self-respect and the beginning of a better future.
Administration’s response and future plans
Bilaspur Collector described this achievement as a matter of pride for the district. He said that these houses are not just bricks and cement, but are the foundation of dignity and security of poor families. The Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat also assured that in future also the benefits of the schemes will be extended to every eligible beneficiary with transparency and commitment.
