Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [भारत]July 13 (ANI): All Kerala Jamiatul Ulama on Monday urged the Kerala government not to implement the Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PM SRI) scheme. The organization claimed that the scheme reflects the agenda of the RSS. It also demanded the establishment of an Arabic university and greater representation for minorities in government boards.
Urge not to implement ‘PM Shri’ scheme
Addressing a press conference after the meeting with Chief Minister VD Satheesan, ‘Samast’ leader Omar Faizi Mukkam said the delegation has submitted a memorandum. “We briefed the Chief Minister about the demands and resolutions adopted as part of the centenary celebrations of ‘Samast’. Our delegation discussed issues related to backward communities and underdeveloped areas in the state and submitted a memorandum outlining their demands,” he said.
He further said, “We have urged the government not to implement the Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, as we believe it reflects the agenda of the RSS. We have expressed our concern that it will have a detrimental impact on the society. There are political motives behind the PM SHRI scheme. We have also highlighted this concern in the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister.”
The entire Kerala Jamiatul Ulama also supported the state’s anti-drug campaign. Mukkam said, “Our priority is to ensure that deserving communities get the benefits they deserve. There are many initiatives of the government that deserve our support, and Operation Toofan is one of them. We have given our full support to that initiative.”
Reforms in education sector and demand for Arabic University
He said that ‘Samast’ has demanded many measures in the education sector. “We also put forward several demands related to the education sector, including the establishment of an Arabic university. Besides, we demanded adequate representation for minorities in government boards. We received a positive response from the chief minister and ministers,” he said.
Demand for reorganization of districts on the basis of population
On administrative restructuring, Mukkam said the organization has demanded reorganization of districts on the basis of population density. “We have demanded that the districts be reorganized on the basis of population density. This demand is not limited to Malappuram alone. However, the population of Malappuram is much larger than that of many other districts, and that reality should be kept in mind,” he said. (ANI)
