PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh today | Check its features and other details

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, is all set to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway on April 29, after a long wait. This expressway has been developed by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).

Once inaugurated, this will be the longest expressway in the state. This expressway will span over 594 km and will be stretched from Prayagraj to Meerut. This six-lane high-speed corridor has been built at a total cost of Rs 36,230 crore.

The expressway will serve as a broader network in UP

Importantly, this expressway will also serve as a broader network in Uttar Pradesh. The expressway will link several corridors, which are both operational and planned. Among these corridors are Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway, and Farrukhabad Link Expressway.

According to officials, this expressway, will reduce travel time to almost half. While earlier, it used to take nearly 12, after the inauguration travel time may reduce between 6 to 8 hours. The expressway will also pass through Hapur, Meerut, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Budaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

Other features of Ganga Expressway

It will also consist of a 3.5-km-long airstrip in Shahjahanpur for the take-off and landing of Indian Air Force aircraft in case of emergency situations . Authorities have also installed around 250 cameras near the airstrip. The expressway will also provide direct high-speed connectivity from National Capital Region. The project will also be a project for various sectors, trade, agriculture, tourism among others.
