BMW M2 Coupe RR limited-run edition launched alongside motorcycles

New Delhi: BMW, as a brand, is well known for making amazing performance cars and bikes, and now they have decided to bring out two together in a limited-run edition. BMW M has unveiled a unique set of limited-run models for South Africa, marking the first collaboration between BMW South Africa and BMW Motorrad.

The joint effort brings together performance cars and superbikes under a shared identity, coming with a series of exclusive “RR Edition” models offered only in the South African market.

Highlight of the range is the BMW M2 Coupe RR Edition, alongside the two-wheeled counterparts, the BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition and BMW M 1000 RR M2 Edition. Production is limited, with just 10 units of the M2 Coupe RR Edition planned, paired with matching motorcycle editions. The models get a common design theme, finished in black paint with contrasting red accents and bespoke BMW M detailing.

For those who want BMW Motorrad’s performance, there is the S 1000 RR M2 Edition, which builds on South Africa’s best-selling sportbike, getting Black Storm Metallic paintwork with red highlights on the fairing and seat cowl, along with a tinted windscreen, M-branded seat and red-accented wheels.

The more extreme M 1000 RR M2 Edition comes with the same theme, adding red highlights on carbon wheels, fuel tank and front fairings. It also gets the distinctive M winglets with red RR badging. Both motorcycles get their standard mechanical setup but have been given the Akrapovic exhaust systems for more characteristics.

The M2 Coupe RR Edition, meanwhile, stays mechanically unchanged as well, coming with its 353kW inline six-cylinder petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo. However, it receives quite a few performance-oriented upgrades, which include M Performance suspension lowered by 20 mm, red springs and 20-inch front and 21-inch rear tyres as well.

Aerodynamic enhancements come in the form of revised front and rear splitters and dual rear spoilers, while a bespoke Akrapovič exhaust further differentiates the model.

Inside, the cabin gets a black-and-red theme, with contrast stitching, sporty bolsters and signature M detailing, including a red centre marker on the steering wheel and configurable M buttons. Notably, this edition also features a standard sunroof, a first for the M2. BMW plans to offer the M2 Coupe RR Edition in both six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic (M Steptronic) setups.
