Warm welcome in Switzerland
Before reaching France, Prime Minister Modi made a brief stay in Geneva, Switzerland. He was welcomed at Geneva Airport by Swiss President Guy Parmelin. The two leaders discussed mutual cooperation and further strengthening India-Switzerland relations. After this, Prime Minister Modi left for Evian, located about 45 kilometers from Geneva.
India’s 13th and PM Modi’s 7th consecutive participation
This is India’s 13th participation in the G7 Summit. Although India is not a permanent member of the G7 group, India has been invited continuously over the years. Foreign policy experts believe that India’s importance has continuously increased due to its growing role in solving global challenges, its position among the world’s fastest growing major economies and its representative nature of the countries of the Global South.

French President Emmanuel Macron will formally welcome Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister will then participate in a high-level working session on the theme, “Building new partnerships and strengthening international cooperation.” Apart from the leaders of G7 countries, senior representatives of partner countries, World Bank and African Development Bank will also participate in this session.

During the summit, Prime Minister Modi will also participate in many important bilateral meetings. According to the programme, he will meet Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
