1. Apology to the sisters of the country with folded hands

At the very beginning of his address, PM Modi apologized to crores of women of the country. He said, ‘I apologize to you with folded hands that this bill could not be passed in Parliament. We wanted to give women their rights, but some parties put forward their selfish politics.

2. Opposition committed ‘feticide’

In his sharpest attack on the opposition, the PM said that Congress and its allies have committed ‘feticide’ of women’s reservation in Parliament. He said that these parties together have taken away the rights which women were supposed to get from 2029.

3. When the bill fell, the opposition was celebrating by thumping the table.

Expressing grief, the Prime Minister said that when the bill was falling in the Parliament, the leaders of parties like Congress, TMC and SP were happy by thumping the table. The PM said that this was not just a slap on the table, but a deep blow to the self-respect of women power.

4. Women never forget insults – PM

While warning the opposition, Modi said, ‘A woman can forget everything, but she never forgets her insult.’ He said that when these opposition leaders go to their areas, the women of the country will definitely ask them to account for this ‘sin’.

5. Fear of dynastic parties

The PM said that these parties fear that if women from ordinary families come forward in politics, the shops of family members will be closed. Because of this insecurity he has opposed this bill.

PM raised questions on the old attitude of Congress. He said that the work of Congress has been to ‘delay and distract’, be it water dispute with Pakistan or border dispute. Now they are doing the same thing with women.

7. Trap of lies on delimitation

Countering the opposition’s claims, Modi said that lies are being spread regarding delimitation that some states will suffer losses. The PM made it clear that the seats of any state will not decrease, rather the power of every state will increase.

8. We have not lost, our courage has increased – PM

On lack of numbers, the PM said, ‘Yesterday we did not have the required 352 votes, but that does not mean that we lost. Our resolve is firm and we will fulfill this resolution.

9. Anti-reform face exposed

Modi said that Congress has always been an enemy of reforms. From Article 370 to Triple Talaq and now women’s reservation, Congress has put obstacles in the way of development every time. He termed Congress as a ‘parasite’ which is living on the support of other parties.
