Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [भारत]July 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Under this initiative, the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station in Dehradun was dedicated to the nation. Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present on the occasion.
CM Dhami expressed gratitude to PM Modi
According to a press release, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked PM Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand and described the redevelopment of Harrawala railway station as a matter of pride for the state. He said that the station, redeveloped at a cost of about Rs 19 crore, reflects the natural beauty of the Doon Valley and the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. The station complex incorporates traditional Aipan art, creating a harmonious blend of modern infrastructure and local culture, while state-of-the-art passenger amenities will make travel safer, more convenient and comfortable.
According to the release, the Chief Minister said that unprecedented changes are taking place in Indian Railways under the leadership of PM Modi. He said there have been continuous improvements in the modernization, safety, speed and technical efficiency of railways, while indigenous trains like Vande Bharat and NaMo Bharat have emerged as the new symbol of self-reliant India.
Expansion of rail connectivity in Uttarakhand
Dhami said that with the guidance of the Prime Minister and the cooperation of the Centre, the dream of providing rail connectivity to the hilly areas of Uttarakhand is fast being realized. He said that more than 75 per cent of the work on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project has been completed, and once operational, it will significantly boost the social, economic and tourism sectors of the state. He also said that the two Vande Bharat trains running in Uttarakhand have significantly improved the travel convenience for passengers and tourists visiting the state.
Record allocation in railway budget
The Chief Minister further said that the Central Government has allocated a record Rs 4,769 crore for the development of railway infrastructure in Uttarakhand in this year’s Railway Budget, while railway projects worth over Rs 39,491 crore are currently under implementation in the state. He said that this shows PM Modi’s special commitment and affection towards Uttarakhand.
Expressing confidence, Dhami said that the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station will become an important milestone in the development journey of Uttarakhand and will further strengthen the vision of a developed Uttarakhand in line with the national resolve to build a developed India. (ANI)
