Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people of the state to adopt fuel saving, public transport, work from home, indigenous products and electricity saving. He stressed on reducing foreign travel, increasing local tourism and promoting low-oil food.

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to the people of the state to accept the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that in view of the current global circumstances and increasing instability in the world, all citizens have to be alert and responsible. The Chief Minister urged people to reduce fuel consumption, avoid unnecessary gold purchases and promote indigenous products.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and ministers’ instructions to reduce the fleet by 50 percent

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a meeting with the Chief Secretary, DGP and Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of all departments, directed that the number of vehicles in the convoy of the Chief Minister, Ministers and other officials should be immediately reduced by 50 percent. He said that fuel savings should be ensured by removing unnecessary vehicles.

Promotion of work from home and virtual meetings

The Chief Minister talked about promoting work from home culture in government departments and private institutions. The Industrial Development Department and IIDC were instructed to motivate big industries and startups to adopt work from home at least two days a week. He also said that government seminars, workshops, conferences and departmental meetings should be organized through virtual medium as much as possible. Emphasis was also laid on conducting 50 percent internal meetings of the State Secretariat and Directorate online.

Appeal to celebrate ‘No Vehicle Day’ one day a week

The Chief Minister appealed to Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives to use public transport at least once a week. He talked about running ‘No Vehicle Day’ campaign and gave instructions to involve government employees, school-college students and common citizens in it.

Special emphasis on use of metro, bus and public transport

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to make maximum use of PNG, Metro, public transport and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses. He said that in cities where metro service is available, people should use metro instead of private vehicles. He also stressed on promoting cycling, car pooling and use of electric vehicles. Besides, instructions were given to increase bus services on high demand routes.

Appeal to save electricity and limit decorative lights

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked people to pay special attention to saving electricity. He directed that unnecessary electricity should not be used in government buildings, private establishments and homes. He said that there should be minimum use of decorative lights in commercial complexes and private establishments after 10 pm so that energy can be saved.

Promote use of school buses in schools and colleges

The Chief Minister directed the Education Department to encourage the use of school buses in schools and colleges instead of private vehicles. If necessary, transport corporation buses should also be connected to schools. He said that office timings can be divided into different batches to reduce fuel consumption during peak hours.

Reduction in foreign trips and promotion of domestic tourism

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to avoid non-essential foreign trips for the next six months. He asked citizens and wedding planners to give priority to tourist places in India and Uttar Pradesh instead of foreign countries for destination weddings. He said that heritage sites, forts, eco tourism and religious places in UP are excellent options for destination weddings.

‘Visit My State’ campaign and promotion of local tourism

The Chief Minister gave instructions to start ‘Visit My State’ campaign. Under this, wellness tourism, rural tourism, wildlife tourism and food based tourism will be promoted. He said that programs like shopping festival, heritage tour, temple darshan and cowshed tour should be organized in the state so that local tourism and economy can be strengthened.

Instructions for promoting ODOP and GI tagged products

The Chief Minister appealed to promote the use of Indian made products and handicraft items in festivals, weddings and other events. He said that ODOP and GI tagged products should be given priority as gifts from the state government. He also stressed on increasing the use of products made by local artisans, self-help groups and small entrepreneurs.

Emphasis on reducing consumption of edible oil and health awareness

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to use less edible oil. He said that this will improve health, increase domestic savings and also reduce dependence on imports. The Health Department has been instructed to organize nutrition awareness camps and give wide publicity. Emphasis was laid on promoting low-oil food in schools, colleges, hospitals, mid-day meals, hostels, jails and police messes.

Instructions for communication with hotels, dhabas and street food traders

The Chief Minister directed the local administration to conduct an awareness campaign to promote low-oil foods by holding meetings with hotels, confectioners, restaurants, dhabas and street food operators.

Promotion of natural farming and cattle based agriculture

The Chief Minister directed the Agriculture Department to encourage natural farming. He said that the dung of 14 to 15 lakh cows present in the cow sheds of the state should be used in natural farming. He also stressed on taking the former registry campaign forward at a rapid pace.

Focus on PNG network and solar energy expansion

The Chief Minister gave instructions to expand the PNG network in the state in mission mode. He held a meeting with city gas distribution companies and laid emphasis on increasing new connections. Apart from this, the Prime Minister talked about promoting rooftop solar under the Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme and motivating people to adopt solar energy.
