England Playing XI For 1st ODI vs India: The first match of the three-match One Day International series between India and England is to be played on July 14 at the historic Edgbaston ground in Birmingham. Just before this high-voltage match, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced its strong playing eleven against Team India. The English team led by captain Harry Brook has made some interesting and surprising changes in its team for this first match, which also includes a new opening pair.
New opening pair will enter the field
England has made a big and surprising change in its top order to face India’s world class bowling attack. Young all-rounder Jacob Bethel has been promoted and given the responsibility of opening. He will be seen opening the innings with fast batsman Ben Duckett. Jacob Bethel recently performed amazingly during the T20 series. Now he will play as an opener. At the same time, experienced and veteran batsman Joe Root will, as usual, handle the batting at the important position of number 3.
Jos Buttler, one of England’s most aggressive players, has been pushed into the middle order. Butler will also handle the responsibility of wicketkeeping in this match. This match is going to be very special for Jos Buttler. Butler will play his 200th ODI for England as soon as he steps on the field against Team India on Tuesday. Butler made his ODI debut against Pakistan in Dubai on 21 February 2012, and now after 14 years he is reaching this historic milestone.

Strong pace attack and three spinners
Keeping in mind the Edgbaston pitch and the strong batting line-up of the Indian team, England has selected a balanced bowling attack. Sam Curran and Josh Tong will take charge of fast bowling under the leadership of pace merchant Joffra Archer. At the same time, to trap the Indian batsmen in the trap of spin, England has included three spin options in the playing eleven. Will Jacques and Liam Dawson along with experienced leg spinner Adil Rashid will strengthen the spin department.
England’s full playing XI for the first ODI:
Jacob Bethel, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook (captain), Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Sam Curran, Will Jacques, Joffra Archer, Liam Dawson, Josh Tong, Adil Rashid.
