Just before this, there was a change in prices on May 23, when petrol became costlier by 87 paise and diesel by 91 paise per litre.
Petrol broke records in metros
If we talk about the major metros of the country, the prices of petrol are creating new records. Now you will have to pay Rs 102.12 for one liter petrol in Delhi. But the biggest impact has been seen in Kolkata, where the price of petrol has reached the highest among major metros at Rs 113.51 per liter. The people of Mumbai have also not got any relief, the new rate there has become Rs 111.21. In Chennai also it is being sold at Rs 107.77 per litre. This surge will have a direct impact on the travel budget of the middle class.
Expensive diesel will cost heavily on commercial sector
Diesel prices are directly linked to freight traffic in the economy. After the latest increase, diesel in Delhi has become Rs 95.20 per liter. In Kolkata it has reached very close to scoring a century i.e. Rs 99.82. On the commercial front, diesel will now be available at Rs 97.83 per liter in Mumbai, an important city, while in Chennai its price has been fixed at Rs 99.55 per liter. This increase in diesel prices will definitely increase the supply chain costs, the effect of which can also be seen on the prices of everyday goods.
