The Supreme Court has rejected the petition filed against the ban on operation of old vehicles in Delhi-NCR. Rejecting the petition, the Supreme Court asked how can you challenge the guidelines in the application? This petition was filed on behalf of a car owner.

However, the Supreme Court has allowed car owners to file a memorandum with the Delhi government against the ban on 10-year-old diesel and 15-year-old petrol vehicles in Delhi-NCR. Vehicle scrapping policy was started by the Delhi government in the year 2021 to reduce pollution. In this policy, rules were also made regarding old vehicles.

It has been said in the scrap policy that in view of the increasing threat of pollution in Delhi, 10 year old diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles were banned. After this decision, the operation of several thousand vehicles came to a standstill in one fell swoop. According to the rules, if a vehicle is found older than the prescribed limit, there is a provision of heavy fine on it.
