Sawan 2026 Date: The month of Saavan has a different significance in Hindu religion. This entire month is dedicated to Mahadev, the god of gods. Shiva devotees eagerly wait for this month throughout the year. It is believed that Bholenath resides on earth during Saavan and any devotee who worships him with true devotion during this time, his bag is filled with happiness. The simplest and surest way to please Lord Shiva is Jalabhishek. However, if some special rules and correct method are kept in mind while performing Jalabhishek in Sawan, then its results increase manifold. When will Sawan 2026 start?
According to the calendar, in the year 2026, the month of Sawan will start from Thursday, July 30. Whereas, it will end on 28 August 2026. During this entire month, worship of Lord Shiva, Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek, chanting of Shiva mantras and Monday fast are considered to have special significance. It is believed that every auspicious work done during Sawan gives manifold results.
Importance of Jalabhishek in Sawan
According to religious beliefs, Lord Shiva had taken the poison released during the churning of the ocean in his throat. After this, all the gods and goddesses offered him water, which calmed down the heat of the poison. Since then the tradition of offering water to Lord Shiva has been going on. It is believed that by performing Jalabhishek in Sawan, Lord Shiva is pleased and fulfills the wishes of the devotees.
Perform Jalabhishek of Bholenath in this way
In Saavan, wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. After this, meditate on Lord Shiva and take a resolution to worship. If possible, go to a Shiva temple or worship the Shivalinga installed at home. First of all, offer pure water or Ganga water on Shivalinga. After this, Panchamrit Abhishek can be done with milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. Then clean the Shivalinga by offering water again.
Now offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Aak flower, hemp, white sandalwood, Akshat and flowers to Lord Shiva. After this, light incense sticks and offer fruits or sweets. Chant Om Namah Shiva mantra during puja. At last, perform aarti of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and present your wishes to them in the form of prayer.
Keep these rules in mind while performing Jalabhishek
Always offer clean and pure water to Lord Shiva. If Ganga water is not available then mixing it with water and offering it is considered auspicious. Always offer fresh and uncut Belpatra to Shivling. Turmeric, vermilion and Ketaki flowers should not be offered in Shiva worship. Keep your mind calm during puja and do not be in any hurry.
What things can be used in Jalabhishek?
In Sawan, water, Ganges water, milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar, sugarcane juice, belpatra, hemp, datura, white sandalwood, ash, Akshat and white flowers are offered to Lord Shiva. All these things are considered auspicious in the worship of Bholenath.
