‘Pecco Bagnaia’s situation in 2023 was much better, but I see him very confident, and he grew up’ – Davide Tardozzi

Positions are reversed this year. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) arrives at the penultimate round of the MotoGP season chasing the leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati).

Although he admits that the Italian was in a more favorable position about a year ago, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi emphasized the rider’s confidence and the team’s determination:

– Obviously last year’s situation was much better, but I see him really confident, and having won nine Sunday races, and being 17 points behind… But anyway, I see him really confident, he is aware of his possibilities. We’ll see how the last round will be, but whatever Dorna will decide, for us it’s fair. We will try hard this weekend to win both races, while I’m sure Jorge will do the same – because we appreciate Jorge, his attitude leading the championship, but fighting like a contender like he did last year. I think it will be a very nice ending of the season.

Tardozzi also highlighted the experience and maturity Bagnaia has gained: ‘I think what he did in the last couple of years, even in 2021 when he lost the championship to Fabio [Quartararo], it’s something that taught him how to manage the situation. And finally, I think in the last two years he proved that he grew up. Unfortunately, he made some mistakes throughout the season, but so did Jorge. Finally, he proved he is a world champion, and that is fighting against another incredible rider like Jorge Martín’.
