Delhi Capitals (DC) kept themselves alive in the IPL 2026 as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first match of the tournament at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium at Dharamsala.
DC pulled off what is the record run chase at the venue when they chased down 216. This win was bad news for PBKS, who, despite a dream start to the tournament, are now facing being knocked out of the IPL 2026 due to their recent slump in form. Even though the points table might not have been altered by a big margin, the IPL 2026 playoffs qualification scenario got a little interesting.
jumped one spot to the 7th place in the points table, pushing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to 8th. With just three games remaining, they still kept themselves alive in the race for the playoffs, as three wins out of three will guarantee them a spot.
On the other hand, PBKS remained on 13 points from 11 games, as they lost their fourth consecutive game in the tournament. They remain on the 4th spot of the points table, and if they continue their slump, they have a very big chance to get knocked out of the IPL 2026.
