Acura’s plans to resurrect the RSX nameplate are on hold. The luxury brand planned to stick the nomenclature to a . However, due to the recent reversal in EV plans by parent company Honda, the reborn RSX is now stillborn.
This was no early termination, either, as the reveal of the RSX Prototype in late 2025 and sightings of camouflaged RSX mules indicate that Acura was far along in developing the model. So far along, in fact, that it appears the brand submitted drawings to the United States Patent and Trademark Office of the vehicle in its production form.

As these drawings indicate, the presumably production RSX appears to closely resemble the RSX Prototype that preceded it. Still, there are a handful of differences that stand out. Most notably, the full-size rear-view mirror housings take the place of the small camera mirrors of the prototype.
Other differences include a roof-mounted shark fin antenna, carve-outs within the trim surrounding the wheel wells for front and rear side-mounted reflectors, and cutouts within the lower grille that likely aid in cooling. Truth is, we were far from excited about the new RSX in the first place—after all, how many small crossover SUVs does the market really need, battery-electric or otherwise?—but we were interested in knowing what the vehicle would look like in production form. It seems that now we do.
Whether Acura still plans to use the RSX nameplate is a bit of a mystery. That said, if Acura does intend to pin the appellation to a new model, then hopefully the brand applies the moniker to a vehicle that’s more deserving of wearing the RSX badge.
