Mumbai (Maharashtra) [भारत]July 27 (ANI): Maharashtra Congress president Harsh Vardhan Sapkal on Monday alleged fresh irregularities in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) drug inspector recruitment exam. He claimed that the question paper was circulated on WhatsApp even before the exam and demanded action against those responsible for it.
Allegation of paper leak in MPSC Drug Inspector exam
In a post on Sapkal said, “Paper leak once again in Maharashtra! Claims of MPSC Drug Inspector recruitment exam question paper being circulated on WhatsApp even before the exam is conducted, along with alleged irregularities in scoring and official complaints with evidence are also coming out… yet the government and machinery are silent?”
Taking aim at the Maharashtra government, he further questioned whether those responsible for the exam leak were getting political protection. “Instead of taking action against those who are playing with the future of lakhs of students, giving them protection – is this the working style of this government? Under whose patronage is this paper leak racket going on? With the blessings of which minister in the government is this scam going on?” He asked.

Central government took strict steps
Sapkal’s comments come after the Center announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening India’s examination system amid a nationwide outcry over alleged paper leaks and exam irregularities.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha. The proposed law seeks to strengthen the legal framework against paper leaks and examination-related malpractices through provisions such as fast-track courts, time-bound investigations and trials, stringent punishment for offenders, special public prosecutors and a special task force.
NEET-UG controversy and nationwide protests
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a high-powered task force under technology expert Nandan Nilekani to recommend comprehensive reforms to make the country’s examination system more reliable, transparent and technology-driven. These developments come after weeks of nationwide protests over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and exam irregularities, which resulted in the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The government has also initiated discussions with representatives of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which led the agitation demanding reforms in the examination system. (ANI)
