Veteran actor and producer Akkineni Nagarjuna expressed deep emotional resonance after watching the upcoming film Pallaburusu, revealing that the movie brought tears to his eyes while leaving him with an uplifting feeling. Speaking at the film’s pre-release event, Nagarjuna shared insights into the project, produced by Annapurna Studios in association with Epic Studios, ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on August 14.
Directed by Uday Chauhan, Pallaburusu stars Sudhakar Reddy and Muralidhar Goud in lead roles and represents Annapurna Studios’ ongoing commitment to backing fresh, concept-driven narratives.
Nagarjuna on ‘Pallaburusu’ and Its Personal Resonance
Nagarjuna recalled that director Uday Chauhan’s initial narration immediately connected with his personal life and family values, particularly regarding the responsibility of caring for ageing parents.
“There is no greater fortune than taking care of our parents. They looked after us when we were children,” Nagarjuna said, noting that the theme reminded him of how his wife, Amala, dedicatedly cares for her parents.
While the core premise deals with family dynamics, Nagarjuna highlighted how the narrative transforms an apparently trivial dispute into engaging cinema.
“Initially, when the story was narrated to me, I thought it was about dividing property,” he explained. “But Uday narrated it in such an entertaining manner—a father going to court against his son over a toothbrush. I watched the film and was totally entertained. Without even realizing it, I had tears in my eyes. At the same time, I came away with an uplifting and positive feeling. A film made with so much love can never go wrong.”
Annapurna Studios’ Evolving Production and Distribution Strategy
Beyond discussing the film, Nagarjuna reflected on Annapurna Studios’ 50-year legacy and its current strategy to strengthen production and distribution networks in the Telugu film industry. He emphasised the necessity of creating a sustainable ecosystem that protects filmmakers and investors.
“The producer is always the first person to invest and the last person to make money. We have experienced that ourselves,” Nagarjuna noted. “Keeping that ideology in mind, we wanted to strengthen Annapurna’s distribution. We recently started distribution in Nizam as well.”
