Former Pakistan cricket team skipper Mohammad Yousuf feels that one of the team greatest victories over Indian team ever led to the current crisis situation.
Yousuf claimed that one of the primary causes of the team’s present problems was Pakistan’s 10-wicket victory over India at the T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. He clarified that the captaincy contest caused problems in the dressing room and that some players began to feel as though they had accomplished something significant as a result of the victory.
Pakistan won the match against India by chasing down 152 without losing a single wicket because to impressive performances from Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan. But after almost five years, Yousuf feels that the triumph was actually a problem.

“That match which we won against India in 2021, that damaged us a lot. Because after that victory, players started to think that they had achieved something big. They couldn’t understand what they had to do next,” Yousuf told Samaa TV.
“When you are performing well, you should stay humble. If you behave with your collar raised, and get disrespectful, problems will arrive. And a lot of them have arrived in Pakistan cricket,” he added.
Yousuf talked extensively about the captaincy problems that have also recently beset the team.
The former Pakistan captain also feels that the national team has not played well lately, citing the results of the Asia Cup, ODI, and T20 World Cups.
“There has been terrible cricket. The PCB has been supporting you throughout. So many coaches have come and gone, so many things have changed just to try and help the Pakistan team. But no player has stood up and taken responsibility.”
After losing their first Test match against England by an innings and 103 runs at Headingley, was defeated by 194 runs at Lord’s. In response, the brought in seven replacements, including five uncapped players, and sent seven players home. Sarfaraz Ahmed, the head coach, and Umar Gul, his assistant, were also sacked mid-series. Pakistan’s dismal performance has continued beyond the England series. Bangladesh defeated them 2-0 earlier this year, and they were defeated by them at home in 2024.
