A major suicide attack has taken place in Karachi, Pakistan. Four people have lost their lives in this attack targeting the Rangers Headquarters located in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
Karachi Attack: Pakistan’s financial capital Karachi was suddenly shaken by the sound of explosions and bullets on Saturday evening. According to local media reports, a major attack took place near the Sindh Rangers headquarters located in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the city. Initial reports have claimed that 4 people have died in the attack, including 3 Rangers soldiers. There are also reports of many other people being injured. After the incident, the entire area was surrounded by security forces and a large-scale search operation was started.
How did the attack happen?
According to local media reports, the attacker carried out the blast targeting the Rangers compound. Soon after, some other armed people started firing on the security personnel. It is being told that first there was a big explosion, then two smaller explosions were heard. After this the firing continued intermittently for about 30 minutes. This was the reason that there was chaos in the entire area and people started running towards safe places.
There was commotion on University Road
The attack took place in Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi, which is considered a very busy area of the city. Many big universities are present here. The office of Pakistan Meteorological Department is also located near this area. As soon as the sound of the explosion was heard, panic spread in the surrounding areas. According to eyewitnesses, within a few minutes police, rangers and rescue teams surrounded the entire area.

Roads closed, entire area cordoned off
Security agencies closed all major roads in the vicinity as a precautionary measure. No one was allowed to go in or out for several hours. Additional police forces and special commando units were also deployed at the spot. Several videos that surfaced on social media showed the presence of heavy police force and security vehicles. However, these videos could not be independently verified.
Chief Minister asked for complete report
After the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took cognizance of the matter. He has called for a detailed report from senior police officers and security agencies. Also, instructions have been given to find out the reason behind the attack and the people responsible.
