Panaji: A sad news has come out from Goa. Here Congress youth leader and former assembly candidate Dr. Ketan Bhatikar died due to snake bite. He was only 38 years old. The incident happened on Thursday night, when he was going to Dandeli village in Karnataka.

According to the information, Dr. Bhatikar was passing near Karmal Ghat on the Goa-Karnataka border. He stopped his car for some work and came out. During this time he was bitten by a snake. Immediately after the accident, he was taken to a primary health center in Dharbandora, Goa, but his life could not be saved. Doctors told that he had died before reaching the hospital.

Dr. Ketan Bhatikar was the Congress candidate in the by-election from Ponda assembly seat in Goa. However, this by-election was later canceled after a decision of the High Court. He had appealed against this decision in the Supreme Court and the matter was still going on in the court. Meanwhile he died.

Goa opposition leader Yuri Alemao has expressed deep grief over his sudden death. He said, “Dr Bhatikar’s dedication to public service will always be remembered.” The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee also condoled his demise, saying that the demise of a promising young leader is a huge loss for the party and the social sector of Goa.
