The tragic bus accident that took place in Ramnagar area of Udhampur district on Monday became a bitter picture of this truth. When a bus went out of control and fell into a deep gorge, 21 people died on the spot, while 31 passengers were seriously injured. The condition of many injured is said to be critical and they have been admitted to the hospital.

The accident took place in Kohat area of Ramnagar area of Udhampur, where a sharp and dangerous turn of the road is already notorious for accidents. According to local people, this turn just before the bridge is challenging for the drivers. In such a situation, even a small mistake can prove costly, as was seen in this accident.

If the vehicle suddenly loses control on hilly and winding roads, there is very little chance of recovery. It is being told that the bus fell into a ditch about 150 feet deep, due to which the damage increased further.

The past record of the bus in which the accident took place is also a matter of concern. According to the information, eight challans of overloading and overspeeding were already registered against him. Despite this, running of such vehicles on the roads raises serious questions on both the traffic system and administrative monitoring.

According to sources, the bus had more passengers than its capacity. Having more than 50 people increases the risk of the vehicle losing balance, especially on narrow and winding mountain roads. This could also be a major reason, which made the accident so horrific.
